Flag-raising ceremonies in four municipalities, performances, contests, and festive activities will make the region come alive, showcasing our beautiful Francophone heritage!

St Catharines

 

Presentation of the Francophone Community at City Hall Council Chambers

Date: Monday, September 22, 2025

Location: St. Catharines City Hall, 50 Church Street, St. Catharines

Details: For the very first time, student leaders and members of Francophone organizations will proudly present the Francophone community and the Franco-Ontarian flag to the municipal council of St. Catharines!

Flag Raising Event

Date: Thursday, September 25, 2025

Location: St. Catharines City Hall, 50 Church Street, St. Catharines

Details: The Francophone and Francophile community of St Catharines is invited to join the raising of the Franco-Ontarian flag at St. Catharines City Hall, alongside municipal representatives, francophone organizations, and students from Immaculée-Conception, Sainte-Marguerite-Bourgeoys Catholic Elementary Schools, and Héritage Elementary School. Speeches, songs, and celebration will bring the ceremony to life.

Celebration Evening & Show for the 50th Anniversary of the Franco-Ontarian Flag

Come celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Franco-Ontarian flag with a festive and friendly evening!

  • 5:30 p.m. – Community BBQ
    Menu: grilled chicken, potato & macaroni salads, corn on the cob, bread, and dessert — a true summer feast!
  • Outdoor Games – Bean bag toss and washer games for all ages
  • 6:45 p.m. – Symbolic Raising of the Franco-Ontarian Flag
    A unifying moment to highlight our Francophone pride
  • 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. – Musical Show
    Enjoy traditional folk music performed by the talented group Les Gens du Nord

A wonderful opportunity to celebrate our culture, language, and community in a warm atmosphere!

Les Gens du Nord is a Franco-Ontarian band that embraces folk and neo-traditional styles. Their goal is to promote Franco-Ontarian culture and Francophone music within schools and communities — a group that will get you tapping your feet and dancing with your heart!

Flag Raising Event

Date: Thursday, September 25, 2025

Location: Firemen’s Park, 2275 Dorchester Rd, Niagara Falls

Time: 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Cost: Fee

Details: The Francophone and Francophile community of Niagara Falls is invited to take part in the raising of the Franco-Ontarian flag at Firemen’s Park, alongside municipal representatives, francophone organizations, and students from Notre-Dame-de-la-Jeunesse, Saint-Antoine Catholic Elementary Schools and LaMarsh Elementary School. The celebration will begin at 11:00 a.m. near the amphitheatre with speeches, the flag raising, and songs. It will then continue with a festive outdoor walk to the sound of Francophone music along the lawn facing Mountain Rd. The event will conclude with a hot-dog lunch and activities.

Welland

 

Flag Raising at Welland City Hall

Location: Welland City Hall, 60 East Main St, Welland

Time: 9:00 a.m. to 9:05 a.m. *symbolic gesture only (5 minutes)

Details:

The Franco-Ontarian flag will be raised at City Hall for this special day. No speeches are planned for this flag raising. The community is invited to the community celebration at Auberge Richelieu.


 

Community Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Franco-Ontarian Flag
